The doorstep recycling service makes it easy to get rid of tricky items from your home that don’t belong in red or yellow lid bins.
SCRgroup runs the service for the City of Sydney. The Australian company partners with charities and social enterprises to support reuse and recycling.
Each household can book one collection per week, subject to availability.
Step 1
Book a collection
If you live in the City of Sydney’s local area, you can book a free collection online or call 02 9066 5833.
Make sure you have at least 2 full bags of accepted items before booking. There’s no limit to how many bags we can collect.
Step 2
Get your items ready
Pack your items into reusable bags or boxes, grouping similar items where you can.
Label them with a note that says, ‘Doorstep recycling service’.
Place them in a safe and accessible spot near your front door by 8am on collection day.
If you live in an apartment building with secure access, you can leave your bags outside near the entry or letterboxes. Leave your bags in the lobby and buzz the driver in if someone is home to give them access.
Step 3
We’ll collect your items
A driver will come by to collect your items before 3pm. You’ll receive a text after we’ve picked up your items.
Reusable bags and cardboard boxes will be returned empty to where you left them. Just remember to bring them back in. Thin plastic bags won’t be returned.
What happens next
Your preloved items are collected and sorted by our friendly team members and processed by various local service providers, contributing towards a circular economy. Find out more about what happens to your items.
If something doesn’t go to plan
If your bags aren’t picked up before 3pm on your scheduled day, contact SCRgroup at [email protected] and they’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
If you forget to put out your bags, SCRgroup will be in touch with you to reschedule your booking.
If you need to change or edit your booking, log in to your account or call (02) 9066 5833. Changes need to be made by 4pm the day before your scheduled pick-up.
If items were left in your bag, they are likely not accepted. SCRgroup will contact you with more information.
